Depending on your arrival time, travel north towards Chilaw, an important coastal town associated with several Ramayana traditions. Chilaw – Munneswaram Temple Visit Munneswaram Temple, one of Sri Lanka's important Hindu temple complexes and a significant pilgrimage site associated with the Ramayana tradition. According to traditional belief, Lord Rama stopped here after his battle with Ravana and prayed to Lord Shiva to seek relief from the spiritual consequences of the war. Continue towards Dambulla through Sri Lanka's changing landscapes. Sigiriya Rock Fortress In the afternoon, visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of Sri Lanka's most spectacular ancient sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The massive rock rises dramatically above the surrounding forests and contains the remains of an ancient royal complex, gardens, frescoes and defensive structures. Sigiriya is also connected with local and modern Ramayana traditions, including legends identifying the area with King Ravana and his kingdom. Optional: Depending on arrival time and fitness, climb Sigiriya Rock. The climb involves approximately 1,200 steps and normally takes 1.5–2.5 hours. Overnight: Dambulla / Sigiriya

Thirukoneswaram – Sacred Shiva Temple Route: Dambulla → Trincomalee → Dambulla Approx. driving time: 5–6 hours total driving Overnight: Dambulla / Sigiriya After breakfast, depart for the east coast and the historic port city of Trincomalee. Thirukoneswaram Kovil – Trincomalee Visit Koneswaram Temple (Thirukoneswaram Kovil), dramatically situated on Swami Rock overlooking the Indian Ocean. The temple is one of Sri Lanka's most important Hindu pilgrimage sites and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to Hindu tradition and Ramayana-related legends, the site is associated with King Ravana's devotion to Shiva. Some traditions also connect Lord Rama with the temple and his efforts to atone after the battle with Ravana. Spend time exploring the temple complex and enjoying the spectacular ocean views from Swami Rock. Trincomalee Depending on time, enjoy a short visit to the surrounding area, including the coastal viewpoints. Optional: Visit nearby Fort Frederick and the famous natural harbour. The landscape gradually changes from tropical plains to mountains covered with tea plantations. Ramboda – Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple Visit the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple, located in the beautiful Ramboda hills. The temple was established by the Chinmaya Mission and is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. According to local Ramayana tradition, this area is associated with Hanuman's search for Sita after she was taken to Lanka by Ravana. The temple is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery and is an important pilgrimage destination for devotees following the Ramayana Trail. Ramboda Waterfalls & Tea Country Continue through the spectacular Ramboda mountain region. Depending on time, stop at a viewpoint or waterfall and visit a Sri Lankan tea plantation/factory to learn about the production of Ceylon Tea. Nuwara Eliya Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, often called "Little England", situated approximately 1,860 metres above sea level. Enjoy the cool mountain climate and colonial-era atmosphere. Overnight: Nuwara Eliya

Sita's story in the central highlands Route: Nuwara Eliya → Welimada → Ella → Nuwara Eliya Approx. driving time: 4–5 hours excluding sightseeing Overnight: Nuwara Eliya After breakfast, travel towards Welimada and the Ella region. Divurumpola Temple – Welimada Visit Divurumpola Temple, traditionally associated with Sita's Agni Pariksha, the trial by fire described in the Ramayana. According to local tradition, this is the place where Sita demonstrated her purity before Lord Rama. The temple continues to have cultural significance, and the location is traditionally associated with oaths and declarations. Visitors should dress respectfully when entering the temple grounds. Ella Continue towards the scenic mountain town of Ella. Enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and tea-covered mountains. Depending on time and physical ability, optional sightseeing can include: • Ella Gap viewpoint • Ravana Falls • Short countryside walk • Tea plantation visit • Local village experience Ravana Falls Visit Ravana Falls, one of the most famous waterfalls in the Ella region. Vibhishana & the final chapter of the Ramayana Trail Route: Nuwara Eliya → Colombo Approx. driving time: 5–6 hours excluding sightseeing Overnight: Colombo / Airport transfer After breakfast, depart from the cool central highlands and travel towards Colombo. Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara Visit Kelaniya Temple, one of Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist temples. The temple has a long history within Sri Lankan Buddhist tradition and is traditionally believed to have been visited by the Buddha. The site also has an important connection to the Ramayana tradition. According to Hindu and local legends, Vibhishana, the brother of Ravana who supported Lord Rama, became the ruler of Lanka after Ravana's defeat. A shrine at Kelaniya is dedicated to King Vibhishana, who continues to be revered by devotees. Colombo Continue to Colombo for a short city visit, shopping or an optional sightseeing tour depending on your departure time. Tour ends with transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport or your Colombo hotel.
